Adoption Process

1.  Find a specific or type of animal you like.  We're frequently asked if a pet is still available -- our volunteers work diligently to keep the information on our listed pets as current as possible, so if the pet is listed, it should still be available. 

2.  Complete a phone interview. If another volunteer contact number is not listed in the summary section on our site, please call the main PAALS number. Diane will fill you in on the status of the animal and conduct a brief interview. If you are interested in visiting the ranch, move on to 3.  

3.  Complete an online application. The application is located under "Forms/Applications" on the menu on the side of this page. Once you've completed all questions, you will receive an automatic email confirming our receipt of the application. This records your application for accounting and review purposes. 

Because of the animal based work load at the ranch, all website and paperwork review is taken care of by offsite volunteers. Please help our ranch volunteers by bringing a copy of your application form with you. We appreciate your help!

4.  Meet with the animal(s) at the ranch.  Our greatest hope is that your visit with your potential PAAL for Life will lead to final adoption.  

5.  Sign contract and make a donation for the animal chosen.  Animals that are available for adoption are usually ready to go home with you! You can expect that they have been spayed or neutered, dewormed, and are up to date on their distemper combination vaccination. Some also will have additional vaccinations.  When appropriate, animals have also been tested for heartworm. Our suggested adoption donation starts at $150.00.
